VHDX Max Size

Hello 

i have 40 Tb storage and i need to provision it in hyper v 2016 as 2 volumes 2 2x 0 Tb each

so it is advisable to create it as VHDX and create volume and attach it to VM

or it is better to attach is as pathru direct to the VM
