Hello,
First, I have to say that I am a newbie to Hyper-V.I have hyper-v on windows server 2012 r2 in a lab environment. I am trying to benchmark the performance of VMs with different OSs by measuring the performance of their disks (using fio and IOmeter tools). The performance of a VM with Linux (ubuntu 12.04) was acceptable in the beginning (average of 35 MBPS to write a 4 GB file size with 1 MB block size). But for a VM with windows server 2008 r2, the performance was very poor (average of 4.7 MBPS to write a 4 GB file size with 1 MB block size). I installed the integration services to increase the performance, but nothing happened. So I have checked the the services on the guest itself to find them not running and cann't be restarted !!
I checked the first VM, the one with linux and it gave me the same poor performance of the other one. So I am guessing that the services on the guest were running and suddenly stopped. I have tried to reinstall them from the iso file on the guest but they still stopped.
How do I restart the services ?! and are they going to make any difference in the perfomance of the disks, since I cann't find in their description any thing related to disks ?!
Note: I am using the same disk and same processor for my VMs.
Thanks in advance
