My client is implementing a shared storage Hyper-V cluster in two sites. Three active nodes in the primary site, one node in secondary. They have SAN replication but the LUNs in the DR site are offline. In a disaster the idea is to bring the DR LUNs online and make them available to the cluster node in secondary, so the VMs can be brought online.
VMs are on CSVs. The cluster passes validation in the primary site but when the node in the secondary site is added to the cluster, all the CSVs go into Online Redirected access. This impacts performance at the primary site. Is there any way to tell the cluster that the LUNs are not expected to be visible at the secondary site?
The host in secondary must be a cluster member. The organisation has not yet made the jump to a 2012 build, and Hyper-V 2008 R2 cannot import a VM without a previous export.
