I don't feel like I should have to ask this question, but MS documentation has taken a complete nose dive in recent years and apparently no one else has tried this or asked about it on the internet. I have searched and searched and can't find any information on this at all.
In any case, I have a 4 host Windows Server 2016 Hyper-V cluster setup connected to FC shared storage. All VMs are hosted on CSVs, and we have a few guest clusters that are using VHD Sets for their shared storage.
My question is, can VHD Sets be storage migrated to another volume? When attempting to do this, I receive the following error:
Event Type: Error Event Source: Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMS Event ID: 20820 Event Description: Storage migration for virtual machine 'VMGUEST1' (33335F10-XXXX-BBBB-CCCC-334E4A44AAAA) failed with error 'Unspecified error' (0x80004005).
Again, I have found nothing that says this is not possible with VHD Sets. However, I do know this was a limitation of shared vhdx.
