WIndows VM Backup happening with network disconnection

Virtual Machine : Windows Server 2012 R2

Backup Tool : Commvault

Cluster in which the VM is running - Microsoft Failover Cluster 2012

Issue Description : The Windows VM is with simple configuration with 1 OS disk and other a secondary disk. Both disks are presented to the VM from CSV. In addition to these disks, 3 command device disks are mapped using virtual fibre channel enabled in the HyperV host. So, using this virtual machine configuration, the VM cannot be live migrated to other nodes.

During the time of backup, this VM is moving to save state and then it is getting restored automatically. Backup is getting successful. Since the machine is going to save state and getting restored, there is a brief disconnection of the VM network. We are getting about 10-15 Request timed out during this backup process.

Is this happening by design, as we have the command disks, attached to the VM using the virtual fibre channel? or is there a work around for a VM with such configuration to initiate backup without downtime. Please help
