Virtual machines getting stuck when powering off while connected to Virtual Switch

Hi,

I have problem with my Windows Server and virtual machines. I have Windows Server 2012 R2 installed and Hyper-V service set and running and then the problem with Hyper-V service when I try to reboot or power down any of the virtual machines running on Hyper-V server while they are attached to the Virtual Switch.

Windows Server has 3 NICs. First is attached to the internet connection, 2nd to the physical switch (through this NIC Windows Server is doing routing job for my network) and 3rd is used for Hyper-V server as Virtual Switch. Then on Hyper-V server I have few virtual machines running different installations of Windows and Linux.

When I try to reboot or power off any of the virtual machines, while it is still being connected to the Virtual Switch, virtual machine gets stuck at powering off state and its process cannot be closed at all, event through Task Manager. After some time Hyper-V server reports virtual machine in Stopping-Critical state. To be even worse, if I try to reboot or power off Windows Server as well while an virtual machine is in critical state, it also cannot finish the task as it gets stuck at closing virtual machine process. The only way to fix this is to force physical server shutdown by holding power button for 4 seconds. When Windows Server boots up again, everything works again as usual.

The only way to avoid this problem is to disconnect running virtual machines from Virtual Switch and then do the rebooting or shutting down cycle. Just to note, virtual machines which are not running are not making any troubles.

I have to mention that in the beginning I didn't have this problem when whole Windows Server was setup. This problem came after some time.

Has anyone had this kind of troubles or can anyone help me with this problem?

Thanks in advance!
