Good evening everyone,
I've got very interesting problem. My Hyper-V hosts are Windows Server 2012 R2 and the guests are Windows Server 2012 R2, too. The first one (Dell R720 XD - host A) hosts the infrastructure machines, such as DC, Exchange, file server, proxy... Second one, is the machine with a bit newer hardware (Dell R730xd - host B). I want to move Exchange VM to it. The hosts are not clustered.
Host A slowly runs out of disk space and Exchange VM virtal disk for database runs out of space too. So I wanted to move to another host and expand the VHDX which has Exchange DB on it. Pretty simple task, I've done it a lot of times, but...
I turn off the Exchange VM, copy the VM folder to the host B - after that I complete the import/register in place process and the VM starts. The problem is that, when I start the machine, I have problem with the services that are set to start manually, for example the "Virtual Disk Service". I just wanted to expand the VHDX in Disk management and saw that the service cannot start at all.
I tried to start all the other services in services.msc but without success.
One other thing. I manage to login to that Exchange VM with a domain credentials. But when I try to login as a local user, I login but I have only the black screen. I can start Task manager and see that Explorer.exe and all the other services are started. I can manually run notepad.exe or write.exe, but nothing happens when I start explorer.exe.
When I go back to the old host and start Exchange VM, everything works fine. I am confused, please help.
Thank you in advance,
Srdjan Stevic
