Hi there I'm experiencing some really poor performance from my VMs, they don't seem to be utilising all the bandwidth available to them via their VM store network, my set up is:
Storage Host/AD/FS:
i5 2400S, 16Gb RAM, Dell PERC6i, 4x2Tb 7200RPM Seagates (bench at 380MB\s & 270MB\s R/W), 3 NICs, 1 mgmt, 2 storage network
Hyper-V nodes:
i7 3770S, 32Gb RAM, 3 NICs, 1 mgmt, 2 storage
i5 4570S, 32Gb RAM, 3 NICs, etc.
SMB Multi-Channel is set up and working fine - as when I pull a big file across the network both storage NICs top out at ~170MB\s, but VMs don't even push the storage network hard at all, when I am using them they're sluggish and feel like I'm running off an ATA33 disk, and the storage network utilization is at ~3-4Mbps when I'm doing stuff, so it's like they're not even trying.
I know it's not the storage server, as the utilization on the disks is next to nothing, and VMs which are hosted locally on that box are running fine... (They're only a few very lightly used ones, Ubuntu running WP, and another 2012 box which is another DC)
Does anyone have any clue as to why this is happening? Or what I should look at to try and resolve this? Is there some setting within SCVMM which is capping their performance?
Thanks,
Rich
