Hyper-V Replica Server Implementation & Multi Site DC

I have few queries related to Hyper-V Replica Sever 2012. Having two different host with multiple VM's including Primary / Secondary Domain Controller (Windows 2008 Standard SP2)

1. HQ and RO Site are connected over L3-MPLS and LAN networks are

HQ: 172.16.0.0/16Gateway: 172.16.0.x
RO: 172.17.1.0/24Gateway: 172.17.1.1 (Client Network)
RO: 172.17.5.0/24(Suggested for Hyper-V Replica Server / VM's)

All the routing between HQ and RO is in place and end-end connectivity is functional

2. SInce both sites are geographically distanced, so I am planning for Multi Site Domain Controller at least one DC at each site, NO child DC will be required.(correct me where ever required).

  • Which IP Address & Gateway is defined on Host Server at RO (172.17.1.x or 172.17.5.x)
  • DC at HQ/RO will have different subnets
  • VM's on RO-DC will have 172.17.5.0/24 IP's
  • DNS and DHCP configuration is required on RO-DC, are these created on Primary or in secondary in connection with HQ
  • Clients / VM's at RO and HQ will have Primary / Secondary DNS from both DC's  in order to have redundancy if servers goes down at  HQ or vice versa
  • Both the server will be GC in their site to avoid dependencies

3. Hyper-V Replication

  • Since after replication from HQ to RO, complete VM is replicated to DR including network settings, how can we change network settings at Replica Server on the go.
  • Will network settings on VM be changed after each replication if we try to manually enter (172.17.5.x) after first time initial replication
