2012 r2 hyper v pagefile system managed

Not sure this is the right location to ask this, but I haven't found clarification on my question through my searches. I was hoping an expert can shed some light on my confusion.

So I have a 2012r2 hyper-v host with 1 vm

32gb ram

now I know Microsoft says with 2012 r2 to leave it managed and they claim they improved pagefile usage to not create a large page file when running a hyperv host. but my system does have currently a 32gb page file. after researching I found that by default if there is a dump that the page file will immediately increase to the size of the memory, but after 4 weeks it will decrease. but I haven't seen that happen. I did create a crash about 2 months ago testing something but it hasn't changed and I also deleted the registry key LastCrashTime but still hasn't change. I have another host in a similar situation with no vms on it yet. I was trying to get help understanding, why the large pagefile if Microsoft says they addressed it and that to leave it system managed, if it can have the same result as 2008r2 at system managed? I'm tempted to hard set the size of the page file.

If someone mentions for crash dump , there already is a reg key to address having a dedicated page file just for dumps on different location.
