Hi,
I've got two machines - one running Windows 2008 and one running Windows 2008 R2 that are Hyper-V host machines. Both machines are decently powered enough with CPU and memory and the VM's running on them aren't very intensive, that I want to upgrade the two machines to Windows Server 2012 R2.
Given this, what is the recommended upgrade path? Given my drive configuration where the Hyper-V files are completely separate from the OS, is it possible to simply swap in a new drive for the OS and then rebuild the server with Windows 2012 R2 and then point the new 2012 R2 Hyper-V at the files from my VMs? Or do I need to export the old VM's first and then import them?
Thanks in advance,
Nick
