Hi guys,
I'm using a HP Proliant Server so I have two Ethernet NICs for networking.
When I install Hyper-V, I created the default virtual switch and set the following.
- External Network: using NIC #1
- check the box to ALLOW Management Operating System To Share This Network Adapter
So I plug NIC#1 in to my physical switch and then all my virtual machines can communicate with the physical machines. BUT, what about when I want to communicate with the Hypervisor itself remotely. NIC #1 has been used for the virtual switch, and this is connecting the Hypervisor to the physical network, BUT the hypervisor does not have an IP address that it can be contacted by.. What I've been doing is setting and IP address on NIC #2, and it will respond on this, but it seems like a bit of a waste...
All opinions appreciated..
thanks,
J
