I will ask since I am new to virtualization and networking that you don’t laugh too hard am my silly questions. If I understand correctly I can install and configure Hyper-V baremetal on my server. Additionally, if I understand correctly, I have to configure Hyper-V with a static address. Again, if I understand correctly, after configuring Hyper-V, I can install server 2012 R2 Essentials in the Hyper-V environment.
It would seem that when I install Server 2012 I will need to give it the static address so DHCP can assign IP addresses for my clients.
My questions are as follows:
- Do I give Hyper-V and Server 2012 the same static address?
- Do I even need to give Hyper –V a static address since server 2012 would have one?
- Once everything is up and running, do I have to log-on to Hyper-V before logging into the server?
- Are there advantages to what I am trying to do?
The crux of the matter is I put together a little test-lab to enhance my knowledge of networking and virtualization. The server hasn’t been too much of a problem. It’s my lack of understanding of how the two programs work together.
Any additional information in layman’s terms will most certainly be appreciated.
Many thanks in advance,
Inafog
