Failing Merge

Hi,

We have 2 snap shots on Hyper-V host which have now taken all the disk space. Some how one these got deleted (I don't know how, so don't ask) so everytime the client goes to start, it attempts to merge, this always fails with the following error....

HYPERV-0119100ErrorMicrosoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMSMicrosoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMS-Admin29/07/2014 08:47:18

background disk merge failed to complete: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. (0x8007045D). (Virtual machine ID 6E95516C-9CB7-4E1A-89B9-A33EDB64670E)

So i am assuming this is down to disk space, So I have just spent many hours copying (Right click, copy & paste) the folder that is used to store the virtual machine data to a much larger disk.  (Tried to use export, but failed so did move)

The server now takes a very long time to start up, 30 minutes, but it does start up, with the merge failing. I would like to know if I have to change something in one of the config files? As the new vhdx runs on the new disk?

By moving all the files, I have also been able to free up data on the old disk, where the snapshot that is trying to be merged is located....

Any ideas, or any extra information you require?
