Snapshot Destroying status

Hi,

So I was going through the process of merging snapshots.  I usually power down the VM, then delete the snapshot and then watch the status.  Well I was doing to many things at once and in one case, I shutdown the VM but instead of deleting the snapshot I deleted the VM.  The status then showed it destroying!  I wasn't too worried until after it was done and now when I go to look at files, the main VHD is there and so is the AVHD?  Does this mean it didn't merge?  Do I have to do it manually now?  Any help would be great?
