System Hangs When creating virtual disk

Hello,

I have been having an issue creating virtual disks that are over 500GB. What happens is the vdisk is created but the system hangs and the only way I can get back into it is to power it off... Once I get back into the server and I try to load the new vdisk in a virtual machine v-manager tells me it is a corrupt disk. I have looked in the event viewer and I see no errors, except for the typical unexpected shutdown. This happens if I use Windows 2008 Hyper-V or Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V, I have 5TB of free space on the partition that I want to use for the vdisk, thinking there was something wrong with the internal drives I tried again with an iSCSI 16 TB DroboPro... Same thing, disk is created and the system locks up. Another thing that I noticed that I have not seen before with ESX or XenServer, when creating the disk it takes forever, I mean a full day for a 1TB vdisk, seems kind of long. The 500GB took about a half of a day to create...

This is a new Lenovo TS140 with 8GB of RAM and three network cards in it. The system only needs to hold a small Linux image that is going to be used for a storage gateway.

Any ideas?
