We have a client who has an SBS volume running in a hyper-V environment. The application has some issues and it has been noticed that the server is installed on partitions which are dynamic and not fixed. We would like to convert them to fixed.
The current dynamic drives are:
c:138GB
d:805GB
The drives are set as 200GB and 1000GB respectively.
We want to convert them to fixed but when it comes to space, we don't have any without adding new drives to the RAID. What I would like to do is the following:
1. Install 2 external hard drives (1-1TB and 1-3TB)
2. Shut down the system and make a copy of the current dynamic VHD files to the 1 TB Drive as a backup.
3. Run the Convert utility on the drive and have the target be the 3 TB Drive.
4. When complete, move the current VHD to the 3 TB drive and move the new fixed vhd files over to the system.
5. Start the system on the fixed drive.
Is there any problem with this process? Does anything else need to be done? Would appreciate the response. Thanks.
