Hello all,
In our environment we have recently migrated our VM from Windows Server 2008 R2 cluster to Windows 2012 R2 and after that we cannot take online backup of some guest with MS DPM 2012 R2 Update Rollup 1.
On every VM (Windows 2008 R2 based) the SCSI controller and the latest Integration Services are installed (the backup integration services is enable); all the following requirements are satisfied:
- The Backup (Volume Snapshot) Integration Service is disabled or not installed.
- A virtual machine has one or more dynamic disks.
- A virtual machine has one or more volumes that are based on non-NTFS file systems.
- In a cluster configuration, the virtual machine Cluster Resource Group is offline.
- A virtual machine is not in a running state.
- A Shadow Storage assignment of a volume inside the virtual machine is explicitly set to a different volume other than itself.
I have verified the VSS providers and all looks fine:
